Ga. Agencies Lease Harley-Davidsons for Motor Units

The Canton (Ga.) Police Department has acquired new Harley-Davidson police motorcycles through a municipal lease program provided by Sparta Commercial Services, Inc.

The Canton (Ga.) Police Department has acquired new Harley-Davidson police motorcycles through a municipal lease program provided by Sparta Commercial Services, Inc., according to a release from the company.

"This was our first experience with leasing our motorcycles," according to Sgt. Jeff Tucker of the Canton PD.

The department began with leasing two units. Woodstock, Ga., will also lease Harley-Davidsons via the agreement.

The Sparta program allows governmental agencies to lease over several years, rather than purchase the equipment, which reduces the strain on their capital budgets, according to the company.

Harley-Davidson established itself as the leading police motorcycle supplier in the United States with the leasing model. After the motorcycles are returned to H-D dealers, they still carry resale value as former police bikes.
