SHOT Show 2011: Walther Brings PPQ Duty Pistol

The PPQ arrives in 9mm and .40 S&W calibers with 3.2-inch barrels. Representatives from Smith & Wesson (Walther's distributor) touted the pistol's "quick defense trigger," which provides an audible reset (clicking sound), 5.5-pound pull, and 0.1-inch reset.

Walther America brought a new full-size duty pistol to SHOT Show 2011 that was unveiled Monday at an invitation-only event at a local firearms dealer.

The PPQ arrives in 9mm and .40 S&W calibers with 4-inch and 4.1-inch barrels respectively. Representatives from Smith & Wesson (Walther's distributor) touted the pistol's "quick defense trigger," which provides an audible reset (clicking sound), 5.5-pound pull, and 0.1-inch reset.

The pistol is based on the same sidearm carried by German police, Wulf Pflaumer, Walther's president, told The Oklahoman.

The grip features cross-directional texturing and interchangeable backstraps for small, medium and large hands. An ambidextrous magazine release is integrated into the trigger guard, and the slide includes front and rear serrations.

The weapons are 7.1 and 7.2 inched in length.
