A man was arrested for burglary on Washington state’s Whidbey Island after telephoning police himself.

An eighteen-year-old is believed to have cut his hand while breaking in to a closed gas station to steal money from the cash register inside.

A security camera recorded someone breaking the glass doors and bleeding all over the convenience store while attempting and failing to open the cash register. The person then stuffed his pants with cigarettes before leaving the scene. The same person appears to have reentered the store and called 911, claiming to have been bloodied when he tried to stop two burglars who beat him before driving away.

Responding officers found a man lying on the ground bleeding and listened to his story. His pants were stuffed with cigarettes. Police then watched the store’s security camera footage. They believed the camera.

The man is now in jail for investigation of two counts of second-degree burglary. He was charged once for each illegal entry into the store.
