PMG Manufacturing Group has announced the introduction of the "SpikeBelt," an inexpensive, fixed spike system for stopping pursuit situations. The SpikeBelt is a strip of ultra thin, high strength, very flexible steel sheet with a staggered alignment of hollow-center fixed spikes. It is wound onto a roll and secured with Velcro tabs. To deploy, an officer places the SpikeBelt at the side of the road and releases it. The spring steel unwinds automatically, deploying in place across the lanes. One and two lane versions are available. The deploying officer can then pull the strip out of the lanes by a supplied heavy duty cord. The SpikeBelt is stored in a zip-open bag and spikes can be easily replaced so the belt can be put back into service.
