Bell's 407 has replaced the 206B-3 — the company is no longer taking orders for it — as the bread-and-butter patrol helicopter for many American law enforcement agencies. Outfitted with a cabin that seats up to seven, it's configurable for an array of tasks and payloads. The 407 offers performance and a superior power-to-weight ratio, according to Bell. Wide-open club seating enhances visibility. Pilot-friendly attributes include a twist grip throttle on the collective and a FADEC for the engine. Bell has inclorporated the high-performance, combat proven, composite dynamic components of the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior for improved handling. The 407's sophisticated engine and composite rotor ensure a smooth ride and drastically quieter operation, according to the company.
