The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office is searching for Todd Martin, a 38-year-old man who stole a patrol car and drove away overnight, despite being handcuffed by a deputy, the Charlotte Observer reports.
The sheriff's office says that while the deputy was outside the cruiser, waiting for a tow truck to arrive for Martin's vehicle, Martin managed to get into the front seat, pull his arms over his head, and drive off with the deputy's car.
