Raytheon announces its latest infrared “heat vision” thermal imager, called ProtectIR, built for mobile police, fire, security and other public safety officials. As the successor to Raytheon’s NightSight Series 200 mobile thermal imager, ProtectIR has been redesigned to be even more sensitive to thermal energy emitted by people and all objects. Designed to help save lives by providing better vision at night, in bad weather and in other low-light situations, earlier versions of Raytheon’s infrared technology have played a major role in everything from apprehending escaped criminals, rescuing children from burning buildings and locating missing persons.
