The San Francisco Police Department is reporting that one of its recruits has died in training.
Recruit Officer Jon-Marques Psalms, 30, reportedly suffered a medical emergency after completing a training exercise on Wednesday August 20, 2025, at the Academy.
Medical personnel treated Psalms on site and he was transported to the hospital by paramedics. He died at the hospital.
“Psalms was a San Francisco resident. He grew up in Southern California and went to college in Louisiana before moving to the Bay Area, where he worked in the tech industry before pursuing his passion to become a law enforcement officer,” San Francisco Police said in a statement.
