To enhance driver safety, New York-based Hands Free 4 Free, which launched its business this year, is offering a hands-free device to anyone who visits its site for a $4.95 shipping and handling fee.

Company spokesperson Lee Roditi says, "According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, inattentive driving accounted for 6.4 percent of crash fatalities in 2003, and I am sure it will only get worse. We are giving away these devices for free to raise consumer awareness.”

With many states banning drivers from using cell phones without hands-free devices, the company hopes that this offer will contribute to driver safety.
