The Dallas Police Department would see its budget for overtime pay reduced by $7 million, under the current city budget proposed for the next fiscal year, the Dallas Morning News reports.
Police Chief David Kunkle agreed to reduce overtime pay to $21 million, but said the department is currently adding positions.
The list of other unfunded items includes $6.5 million for police internal affairs and public integrity, $5.4 million for police recruiting and personnel service, and $5 million for headquarters management. Also unfunded is $3.5 million for a state-mandated school crossing guard program.
