Colo. Sheriff Puts Recruiting on Hold

The recruiting operations for the Jefferson County (Colo.) Regional Law Enforcement Training Academy are on hold because not enough people are leaving the force.

Typically each year the department offers its 21-week course to qualified applicants interested in becoming law enforcement officers.

But the attrition rate at Jeffco has slowed.

"The good news is we have a stable, competent work force and the public is not at risk," said Division Chief Jeff Shrader.

He said the bad news is that people looking for law enforcement careers as Jeffco deputies will have to wait.
