A Broward County, Fla., grand jury has exonerated four Lauderhill Police officers who shot and killed a knife-wielding schizophrenic man at his front door two years ago.
The officers had fired 41 shots in six seconds that hit 21-year-old Cedric Telasco 20 times. Telasco had called 911 in the early morning hours of March 29, 2011. When police arrived, Telasco was armed with a kitchen knife and refused commands to drop the weapon.
The grand jury ruled the appearance of danger justified the use of deadly force by officers Roby Brand, Shawn Blair, Michael Cella, and Kevin Morgan, reports the Sun-Sentinel.
Tedasco's family told the media outlet they were upset by the finding. The family's attorney said the family "is outraged by the conduct of the police officers."
