Three Milwaukee police officers involved in the arrest of Derek Williams in July 2011 will not face federal criminal charges in connection with his death, according to the U.S. attorney's office. The decision mirrors an earlier one from state prosecutors, which means the officers have now been cleared of criminal wrongdoing at every level.
The three officers, Richard Ticcioni, Jeffrey Cline, and Jason Bleichwehl, also have been vindicated by two internal Milwaukee PD reviews.
However, a wide-ranging review of whether the U.S. Department of Justice should sue the Police Department for a series of possible civil rights violations, known as a pattern and practice investigation, continues, according to U.S. Attorney James Santelle.
