While agencies across the United States struggle to attract qualified recruit candidates, the Dallas Police Department welcomed 82 new recruits on Wednesday—the largest recruiting class in the department's storied history.
According to CBS News, in Academy class 368 there are 66 men, 16 women—36 are Caucasians, 21 are Hispanics, 20 are African Americans, and five are Asian.
The majority of the recruits are from Texas while others are from California, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, and Virginia.
In recent years, the Dallas Police Department has been dealing with dwindling numbers within its ranks.
