According to KWCH-TV, Sergeant Jeremy Vogel says that the agency welcomes the influx of female officers because the agency is "trying to reflect the community that we're serving. So when we go on calls, whether it's a certain gender or race, some people tend to be more comfortable with someone they can relate to."

The recruiting class this year also consists of 24 male candidates. All 36 potential officers seek to complete a six month training regimen before pinning on the badge.
