Night Vision and Thermal Tools 2015

TechnologyPhotos 11

These night vision and thermal imaging devices will enhance your vision in any type of light.

Exelis' Night Enforcer Fusion is a compact monocular that combines image intensification (I2 tube) and infrared (IR micro-bolometer) to provide users with dual views, for use separately or in combination. The combined view is especially critical in urban environments and structures that provide little ambient light with multiple concealment barriers behind which a subject can hide. You can visually locate subjects, regardless of lighting conditions or visual barriers. A separate battery pack provides power for helmet-mounted or handheld use. Night Enforcer Fusion mounts on a standard helmet using the optional helmet mount.

N-Vision Optics' TC Series thermal weapon sights attach in front of the day scope on a Picatinny rail, allowing the flexibility to use the sight on multiple weapons. The TC Series is fully collimated to maintain boresight with the day optic, eliminating the need to re-zero when attached or detached from the weapon. Any TC Series sight can also be used as a standalone weapon scope, with four reticle patterns custom tailored for individual weapons. The weapon sights are available with 320 x 256 (TC35) and 640 x 512 (TC50) VOx thermal detectors.

You can detect heat signatures of people and objects, day or night, with the Argus TT Type (Thermal Torch), designed for routine patrol, search operations, and the protection of critical infrastructure. Put simply, the TT Type can help you find people or objects faster, deploy search operations at a reduced cost, and improve the safety and security of both the user and the people or property they are trying to protect.

The new Thor336-1.5X and Thor610-1X thermal weapons sights from American Technologies Network (ATN) both have a frame rate of 30Hz with a 19-inch focal length of the lens that allows for 1.5x optical magnification. They feature the new OLED display to provide a stable image in a small package and are designed to be very compact, waterproof, and dustproof. The Thor336-1.5X weighs 50 ounces and the Thor610-1X weighs 25 ounces. Both models include three batteries each, a lens tissue, a warranty card, and instruction manual with the Thor thermal weapon sight of choice in a hard, portable Mil-Spec storage case.

Luna Optics' most popular digital viewer, the LN-DM50-HRSD, offers internal Image and HD video recording and transition between a full-color image and a super-light-sensitive night vision green image when using its built-in IR illuminator. It features precision all-glass optics with 5x-20x image magnification, a distinctive electronic image zoom system, and a super powerful IR illuminator with viewing distance up to 200m in total darkness, Take pictures and record 720p high-definition video onto a Micro SD card (4GB card is included – upgradeable to 32GB). Unit is equipped with USB, video, and AC outputs and comes with all the cables, AC adapter, and a carry case with shoulder/belt straps.

EOTech's new X320 Thermal Imager is designed to deliver advanced thermal imaging technology in a compact, rugged design. It provides a 320 x 240 resolution with a 30Hz refresh rate and is waterproof and shockproof up to 1 meter, yet it weighs only 13 ounces and fits in your pocket. The X320 Thermal Imager provides up to 7.5 hours of runtime with two user-replaceable AA lithium batteries. Its ability to detect activity from more than 800 yards away makes it perfect for public safety.

Equipped with a wide field of view and an easily engaged 2x or 4x digital zoom, Meprolight's NOA NYX lightweight uncooled thermal weapon sight comes in two models, 2x and 3x, and features proven high-resolution microbolometer technology. It can also be used as a handheld thermal imager. Its compact, lightweight, and durable enclosure is designed to minimize weapon load and ensure convenient and reliable operation. Advanced power saving capabilities based on a motion sensor combined with use of four commercially available AA batteries can considerably reduce the sight's life cycle costs.

The FLIR LS-X and LS-XR Thermal Night Vision cameras are built for the rigors of law enforcement and surveillance. Each model features NTSC video out and a crisp 640 x 480 LCD screen. The FLIR LS-X has a resolution of 320 x 240 and a 4X zoom, and the FLIR LS-XR a resolution of 640 x 480 with an 8X zoom.

Night Vision Depot's night vision products are now available for purchase with Gen III White Phosphor image intensifiers manufactured by Exelis. These tubes use a P-45 phosphor screen, which yields an alternate coloration closer to black-and-white imagery that has been reported to enhance overall object recognition while providing contrast sensitivity equivalent to or better than traditional green phosphor image tubes. These WP tubes are available for system upgrades. As always, NVD systems come with a 10-year warranty.

In fugitive searches or hostage situations, L-3 Cyterra's RANGE-R handheld radar locates persons hidden from view on the other side of a wall—without putting the lives of law enforcement personnel in unnecessary danger. RANGE-R detects both moving and stationary (breathing) targets at ranges up to 50 feet.

The UTAC-16c Series thermal imager from Nivisys features the latest in VOx detector technology and performance. This clip-on weapon sight is meant to be used in conjunction with a user's standard day sight. It works best with magnifications up to 4X. It attaches to any Picatinny rail and features Nivisys' patent-pending Accu-Zoom for a one-time alignment between the day scope and the thermal device. Remote switch capability as well as simple and easy-to-use controls make targeting simple, fast, and accurate.
