The Mobile (Ala.) Police Department is converting 30 cruisers to run on clean propane autogas, according to Alliance Autogas.

N.C. Agency Running 10 Crown Vics On Propane Fuel
The agency estimates it will reduce the amount of gasoline used in a year by 30,000 to 36,000 gallons and save at least $30,000 in fuel costs with the move. The department also expects reduced maintenance costs due to the high-octane rating of propane fuel.

Georgia Sheriff Saving $105,000 a Year with Propane Fuel
The department now has 36 patrol cars in its fleet that act as hybrid propane vehicles. For the conversion, a separate propane fuel system is added that allows the vehicles to switch between propane fuel and traditional gasoline.

"We are all looking to reduce future costs," says Chief Robert Stewart of the Cotati (Calif.) Police Department, whose department sought to save money by reducing its energy use with a new police facility. While green features added $700,000 to the project's final tab, Stewart expects a rapid return on the investment in reduced energy costs.

Force 911 Installs Hybrid Propane Fuel Units for Georgia Sheriff's Department
Force 911 completed the installation of 30 hybrid propane fuel systems for the Jackson County (Ga.) Sheriff's Department. The fuel conversions create a dual fuel system in each vehicle, allowing it to run on traditional gasoline or propane gas.
