NYPD Teaming Up with ATF Over Illegal Guns in City
ATF agents will be directly embedded in the NYPD, according to the mayor. Agents will work together alongside NYPD officers to help stop the flow of illegal guns. In turn, NYPD intelligence detectives in the ATF gun-tracing team will be deputized and designated as federal agents.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Maria Valdez ordered Ernesto Godinez, a reputed Almighty Saints gang member, held in custody until a detention hearing May 17. He was charged with forcibly assaulting an ATF agent with a deadly weapon and faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
