Officer Eric Kral, 35, was in uniform and riding his personal motorcycle to a second job, when he changed lanes and tried to change back, but didn't realize traffic had slowed. He then rear-ended the vehicle in front of him.

2011 Michigan Vehicle Tests: Motorcycles
Kawasaki's Concours 14P ABS motorcycle turned heads when it was relaunched in May (Kawasaki initially introduced it in 2009), and may have generated the most off-line conversations at this year's Michigan State Police vehicle testing.

L.A. County Sheriff Tests 2011-12 Patrol Vehicles
The same vehicles tested in Michigan — new entries included Ford's 2012 Police Interceptors, Chevrolet's 2011 Caprice PPV, and Kawasaki's Concours 14P motorcycle — arrived in Fontana along with two rear-axle ratio 2011 Dodge Charger Pursuit cars, Honda's ST1300 motorcycle, and an alt-fuel conversion Ford Crown Vic.

Setcom Corp. has upgraded a portable-only wired version of one of its most popular products for motorcycle officers, the SuperMic. Available in two models, the SuperMic can be used with or without a public address system and it is backward compatible with Setcom's standard helmet kits.

About 300 fleet purchasing representatives and law enforcement officers arrived at Chrysler's proving grounds in Chelsea, Mich., on Saturday to watch drivers from the Michigan State Police Precision Driving Unit put the Detroit 3 police vehicles through acceleration, braking, high-speed handling, and other tests.

The bike, which was donated by Harley-Davidson, retails for $18,402 and was on display during National Police Week at the Fraternal Order of Police's Tent City during LawRide. Only 6,000 tickets are being sold, and the raffle winner need not be present to win.
