National Foundation Donates to Family of Slain Mississippi Police Officer
National Law Enforcement and Firefighters Children's Foundation (NLEAFCF) has sent out a $5,000 emergency grant this week to the family of a police officer lost in the line of duty last Saturday night.

Michigan Community Raises $4K to Send Wounded Officer on Vacation
Murphy in the early morning of Monday, Feb. 2, responded to a home invasion complaint on the city's East Side and ended up being shot in the left thigh by 17-year-old suspect Jacob M. Haglund. Murphy returned fire, hitting Haglund in the shoulder, abdomen, and neck, wounds from which he died on Sunday, Feb. 15.

Gainesville PD Receives Safety Grant from the Spirit of Blue Foundation and Dunkin' Donuts
The Spirit of Blue Foundation announced today that it has awarded a Safety Training Grant to the Gainesville (Fla.) Police Department to obtain valuable police/youth dialogue training. The focus of this training is building understanding and cooperation between the city's minority youth and the 302 police officers who serve the Gainesville community.

Police Department, and Board Members Diane Harbour and Sue Post of the Spirit of Blue Foundation.

Utah Volunteers Raise Puppies for Law Enforcement
The non-profit organization Havoc K9 raises puppies and trains them to work with law enforcement and first responders before giving the dogs to local agencies free of charge.

Steelers' Quarterback Announces K-9 Grants in Pittsburgh Area
Today, Pittsburgh Steelers' Super Bowl Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger announced the Ben Roethlisberger Foundation at The Giving Back Fund will be distributing six grants totaling $55,000 to police departments in the Pittsburgh, Pa., area where the Steelers play their home games.
