An off-duty S.C. Highway Patrol trooper who tried intervening in a domestic assault at a Rock Hill gas station Sunday was briefly dragged by a car after his hand became stuck in the driver’s side door. He pulled himself free after he hopped onto one of the vehicle’s running boards.

A Rock Hill, S.C., man involved in a domestic dispute with his mother came to blows with a police officer on Wednesday, punching the policeman in the mouth, scratching his face, digging his fingernails into his skin and wrestling with him on the ground before he was cuffed and taken to jail with a bloody lip and swollen face.

S.C. Coroner Rules TASER Not Cause of Suspect's Death
Coroner Greg Shore said Brad Evans took amphetamines less than an hour before he died and that caused his heart's rhythm to become irregular during the chase. Shore said Evans, 31, had a history of heart problems and had heart surgery before the incident.
