Helicopter Video Captures Gunfight Between Texas Trooper and Suspect
Video of a harrowing incident involving a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper that occurred in February has just been released. The trooper and a suspect exchanged gunfire following a brief pursuit. The suspect—later identified as 33-year-old Ernest Manuel Montelongo—subsequently died. The trooper is "recovering and doing well," according to KSAT-TV. More here.

South Carolina Deputy Injured at Traffic Stop
The sheriff's office says Mayberry tried to flee the scene, causing a deputy to reach in the window of his vehicle to stop him. The sheriff says that the vehicle traveled about 20 feet when it went into a ditch and up an embankment, with the deputy's upper body still inside the car. The vehicle then overturned onto the driver's side, pinning the deputy's lower body under the vehicle.

When Aurora, CO, police pulled over a man for driving 65 miles per hour in a 50 mph zone, they probably didn't know that the driver was the son of Denver Mayor Michael Hancock. But in an expletive-filled roadside tirade, 22-year-old Jordan Hancock made them fully aware of the relationship. The entire interaction was captured on the body-worn camera. Now, Timmons and Gurley-Lutkin have each received a one-day suspension for the video being leaked.

The president of the Houston Police Union said in a Tweet that the security guard who captured video on her cell phone of a police officer involved in a violent confrontation with a resistive subject—rather than assist the officer in getting the suspect into custody—has been fired from her job.
