Fugitive's Remains Found Nine Years After Escape
Law enforcement officers solved the question to the pending riddle—Where did Jason McVean go?—nine years after the fugitive and two partners reportedly stole a truck, shot and killed Cortez (Colo.) Police Officer Dale Claxton, and then vanished. Based upon witness accounts of the 1998 murder, it is believed McVean pulled the trigger.

It was two days before Christmas 2004, and Sgt. Randy Wills of the Pueblo (Colo.) Police Department was a case study in sleep deprivation. It had been a busy holiday season with very little peace on earth and even less good will toward men. Wills needed rest.

Columbine School Shooting Remembered
The Jefferson County (Colo.) Sheriff’s office is still under investigation for the way it handled complaints about the two teenagers who killed 12 classmates and a teacher at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo., before committing suicide. Many still believe that the Sheriff’s Office should have been able to predict and prevent the killings.
