Officer Ryan O’Connor of the Arnold (MO) Police Department who was shot earlier this week is fighting for his life. A Facebook post from the Arnold Police describes his condition as "still very critical" following a Thursday surgery.

Authorities say the officer was transporting the suspect, reportedly in custody for an alleged burglary, when he was shot by the suspect inside his patrol SUV. The officer sustained life-threatening injuries.

Video: MO Man Shot Attempting to Carjack Undercover Officers, Police Say
The officers were running plates on a stolen Nissan Altima in northwest St. Louis city. The vehicle was under surveillance because police believe it was used in several carjackings. A man got out of the vehicle at at stoplight at around 11:20am and pointed an AK-47 rifle at them, police say. He told the officers to get out of the vehicle.

A Mississippi officer was wounded and a suspect was killed in a standoff on Interstate 55 near Senatobia Sunday afternoon. Authorities say the incident began when the suspect refused to stop for Hernando police, triggering a pursuit.
