Prankster Radios Officer Down with Stolen Portable
A portable radio stolen from a Lake County (Fla.) Sheriff's deputy was used Monday to call in "officer down" and "shots fired" to dispatchers, who caught on to the prank and didn't send patrol units.

Alabama County's Dispatchers Get New PlantCML Call Processing System
The center is currently equipped with 10 call taking positions to field emergency and administrative calls, as well as to dispatch calls to first responders at the Decatur Police Department, Decatur Fire and Rescue, the Morgan County Rescue Squad, Trinity Police Department, Priceville Police Department, Decatur EMS and 22 volunteer fire departments.

Wounded Charleston County (S.C.) Deputy's Radio Call
On Jan. 21, Charleston County (S.C.) Sheriff's Deputy Jeffrey DeGrow responded to a burglary call and was shot six times, including one in his right eye. DeGrow kept his calm while radioing in his position and a suspect description even as he was gravely wounded. The NLEOMF named DeGrow its Officer of the Month for May.

Susan Odom is a paramedic with Atmore Ambulance. Arthur Odom is an officer with the Atmore (Ala.) Police Department. They've been married for 4 1/2 years. When Susan dialed 911 after choking, her husband answered the call and came to her rescue.

When the 56-year-old man arrived at the Philadelphia-area mall last Friday morning, FBI agents arrested him and found nine condoms, bottles of flavored lubricant, and a high-definition video camcorder in a bag that he had in his car.
