Chicago Officer Shot and Killed by Domestic Suspect
Officer Andres Vasquez-Lasso, 32, was killed in an exchange of fire as he and another officer pursued the suspect on foot. CPD Superintendent David Brown said at a press conference that the suspect turned and fired at the fallen officer.

IL Governor Threatens Sheriffs Who Won’t Enforce “Assault Weapon” Ban
The Protect Illinois Communities Act (HB 5471) bans the sale of all assault weapons and magazines in the state. It also requires owners to register existing guns, among other provisions. Pritzker signed the bill into law on Tuesday night.

Multiple officers deployed water rescue kits while two officers swam to save the drowning child and the adult female who was in the water. In a combined effort, officers were able to safely return to land with the child and the woman.

Videos Released of OIS During Response to Shooting of Off-Duty Chicago Officer
Officers located and began to converge on the suspect vehicle and two officers approached the vehicle while giving verbal commands. The individual driving the suspected vehicle began to flee and one officer discharged his firearm, without striking the subject.
