The officer with the Hemet/San Jacinto Gang Task Force discovered an explosive device attached to his vehicle on Friday. He called for back-up after discovering a threatening device next to his car, parked outside of a store. The intersection was closed off, while a bomb unit disabled the instrument, FOX News reports.

In late February, an anti-gang officer was nearly struck with a bullet from a booby trap attached to the gate of the agency's offices. Earlier in the year, authorities discovered a gas line that had been redirected into the task force's offices.

A $100,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest of the individuals responsible, according to the Hemet Police Department.
