Three new distraction devices from Safariland's Defense Technololgy line arrived at SHOT Show 2011 for tactical officers who must temporarily disorient subjects during dynamic entries or barricade situations.

The Fuel Air model safely deploys light and sound with thermobaric technology — the combustion occurs outside of the canister body that overloads the senses with more than 169dB of sound and up to 8 million candelas of light. The entire combustion is visible, resulting in an illumination period of more than 20 milliseconds.

The Low Roll model provides deflagration of more than 175dB and up to 8 million candelas of light. The diameter of the hex design body is 2 inches with an overall length of 5 inches. The 12 top ports allow for an even distribution of gases from the opposing ends of the canister.

The Low Roll II model brings 175dB and up to 8 million candelas of light when deployed. The 11-gram non-reloadable device incorporates an M201A1 type fuze with hex-design body with a diameter of 0.78 inches.

These products are ATF-controlled, and an Instructor Certification Certificate is required to purchase these products. The devices retail for $42.50 or $40.00 (Fuel Air), $48.75 ( Low Roll) and $40.80 (Low Roll II).
