A South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper was shot Wednesday after responding to the home of a man who reportedly called in a threat to law enforcement.
Sergeant John Koenig, a 28-year veteran with the patrol, is in stable condition.

The shooting reportedly happened after two men barricaded themselves in their home. One of the men, Michael London, 66, was arrested on one count of accessory to aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, class 5 felony, punishable by up to 5 years imprisonment and/or $10,000 fine, the Argus Leader reports.
Brule County Sheriff Darrell Miller says that Donald London, 42, of Kimball, remains inside the home.
The Sioux Falls Police Department's SWAT team was activated at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday and sent 12 team members to Kimball, Lt. Loren McManus said. The Crisis Negotiation Unit out of Sioux Falls was dispatched at 9:30 p.m. and sent three negotiators to the scene of the standoff.
South Dakota Highway Patrol Col. Craig Price said Thursday the ultimate goal is to end the standoff safely and peacefully.
