Officers with the Stevens Point (WI) Police Department will soon be welcoming into the ranks a new K-9 thanks to a generous donation from the Sentry Insurance Foundation.
According to WAOW-TV, Sentry Insurance presented the department with $20,000 on Monday. The funds will help cover the cost of acquiring and training the K-9, who will replace a dog that passed away recently due to organ failure.
"Their generous contribution of the $20,000 will pay for being able to get our next K-9 officer here to our community," Stevens Point Police Chief Marty Skibba said.
The agency said that the training is slated to start in early November.
