Customers at a pet supply store in a suburb of New Orleans were treated to an unusual sight over the weekend as a horse and his human handler with the Slidell Police Department strolled the aisles saying hello.
The agency posted an image of two mounted officers arriving at the retail location on Facebook, with the caption, "The policy at PetSmart is that 'all animals are welcomed.' Did Slidell PD Mounted Officer Robert 'Mongo' Crowell and his horse Misfit test the policy?"
Police explained that with the holiday season bringing more foot traffic to the shopping center mounted officers frequently are deployed to the area to deter shoplifting, car break-ins, and other crimes.
