Utah K-9 Shot in Face Expected to Recover

A K-9 with the Roy City (UT) Police Department was shot in the face after a traffic stop turned into a vehicle pursuit early Saturday morning. At the end of the pursuit, there was an exchange of gunfire that left the gunman dead and the K-9 wounded.

The agency posted on its Facebook page, "K-9 Mik was shot in the line of duty while serving our community. He is currently receiving treatment for his injuries and we are thankful he is expected to recover. We want to thank the citizens we serve for your support."

No officers were hurt during the incident.

The incident is under investigation by the Weber County and Davis County Attorney's Offices.
