Alpine's Pit-bull VX SWAT Truck

Special UnitsPhotos 9

Alpine Armoring's Pit-bull VX SWAT Truck debuted at the 2011 IACP conference in Chicago, and the sleek, imposing vehicle looks like it may have rolled off an action-movie set. The 4x4 truck, which is built on a Ford F-550 chassis, offers armor protection up to NIJ Level IV to stop high-power rifle rounds, including 7.62x51, 7.62x54, and 5.56x45. The Pit-bull VX from Alpine Armoring strikes an imposing stance, and may help violators rethink their barricaded position.

The 4x4 truck's higher ground clearance enables maneuverability in a variety of urban and rural terrain.

In addition to more traditional SWAT trucks, Alpine has also built canine-themed vehicles such as the Pit-bull (shown), Bulldog Mastiff, Boxer, and Pointer van.

Two roof hatches can also be converted into a multi-functional rotating gun turret if need be.

The Pit-bull VX's spartan cabin does include a PA system.

To protect against a gas attack, internal fans circulate bad air out and keep fresh air inside.

Several gunports are accessible from various directions.

Bench seating accommodates six to eight geared-up tactical operators.

The truck's F-550 chassis arrives with either a 6.7-liter V8 turbo-diesel or 6.8-liter V10 engine.
