Officers pursuing an armed man in the Bronx on Wednesday night shot and wounded the subject in a gun battle. A woman and a 12-year-old girl were also wounded in the exchange, although it was not immediately clear whether the bystanders had been struck by rounds fired by the police or by the gunman.
