Veteran Pa. Detective Kills Self

An Allegheny County (Pa.) Police detective who had saved a teenage girl's life committed suicide after a four-hour standoff with police. Homicide detective Lawrence Carpico, 49, died at 10:17 p.m. Saturday. He was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Slain Pa. Cop Had Pointed Stun Gun at Attacking Dogs
