Dan Corsentino, the executive director of Silver State Helicopters' Specialized Airborne Law Enforcement (S.A.B.L.E.) program, has been appointed to the Homeland Security Advisory Council Emergency Responders Senior Advisory Committee. In his new post, Corsentino will provide advice and recommendations with regard to homeland security issues.

FCC Launches Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced Tuesday the launch of the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau. 5.11 Tactical Gear Now Available Under Homeland Security Grant Program

5.11 Tactical gear has been added to the Homeland Security Department’s Authorized Equipment List (AEL). The DHS has allocated more than $3 billion for U.S. grants to be used for domestic preparedness. Law enforcement and public safety departments can now apply for grant monies to pay for preparedness outfitting in specified 5.11 products.

DHS Authorizes First National Certification of a SWAT Training Center

The Government Training Institute in Boise, Idaho, is the first nationally certified SWAT team training system in the United States. This course is now pre-approved to receive U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) grant funds, allowing state and local law enforcement agencies to attend the training using DHS grant monies to pay for tuition, overtime, meals, lodging, and associated backfill costs.
