Ruger's SR1911 Pistol

WeaponsPhotos 8

Ruger celebrated the M1911 centennial by introducing the SR1911, a hard-nosed pistol for purists, collectors and warriors. View our photo gallery of the new pistol that includes several photos not seen in the June "Arsenal" review of Ruger's SR1911 pistol .

The pistol is available with a seven-round or eight-round (shown) magazine with extended plastic base pad.

The pistol is fitted with Novak-style low mount three-dot sights. Square-cut grasping grooves enable retraction of the slide even with wet hands or while wearing gloves.

The stainless-steel slide features a lowered and flared ejection port.

Disassembly shows the Browning-style recoil system used in Ruger's SR1911 pistol.

Ruger's SR1911 is made from 100 percent stainless steel with a bead-blasted matte finish.

A five-inch steel barrel and muzzle bushing (not shown). The recoil system is just as John Moses Browning designed it without any modern "refinements" such as full-length guide rods.

The magazine well has been beveled and that along with the extended magazine release speeds up reloads.
