Ruger's SR1911 Pistol

WeaponsPhotos 8

Ruger celebrated the M1911 centennial by introducing the SR1911, a hard-nosed pistol for purists, collectors and warriors. View our photo gallery of the new pistol that includes several photos not seen in the June "Arsenal" review of Ruger's SR1911 pistol.

The pistol is available with a seven-round or eight-round (shown) magazine with extended plastic base pad.

The pistol is fitted with Novak-style low mount three-dot sights. Square-cut grasping grooves enable retraction of the slide even with wet hands or while wearing gloves.

The stainless-steel slide features a lowered and flared ejection port.

Disassembly shows the Browning-style recoil system used in Ruger's SR1911 pistol.

Ruger's SR1911 is made from 100 percent stainless steel with a bead-blasted matte finish.

A five-inch steel barrel and muzzle bushing (not shown). The recoil system is just as John Moses Browning designed it without any modern "refinements" such as full-length guide rods.

The magazine well has been beveled and that along with the extended magazine release speeds up reloads.
