The Rock River Arms PPS carbine employs the company's patent-pending Performance Piston System (PPS) to reduce recoil, as well as residue in the upper receiver. It features a purpose-designed bolt carrier, an adjustable gas piston, and an over-the-barrel spring and guide rod arrangement. The result is a departure from the traditional recoil system associated with AR-style firearms. Rock River Arms is expected to offer its PPS carbine to law enforcement later in 2010; the rifle carries a suggested retail price of $1,685.

The Rock River Arms PPS carbine employs the company's patent-pending Performance Piston System (PPS) to reduce recoil, as well as residue in the upper reciever. It features a purpose-designed bolt carrier, an adjustable gas piston and an over-the-barrel spring and guide rod arrangement. The result is a departure from the traditional recoil system associated with AR-style firearms. The rifle is expected to be available to law enforcement later in 2010.

The PPS operating system allows for the elimination of the traditional AR-receiver extension (containing the action spring and buffer) behind the lower receiver. The side-folding stock adaptor allows for the use of any AR-style stock on the PPS carbine (Rock River's six-position Tactical CAR is standard). Adaptors for other types of stocks are planned.

The PPS carbine's two-position adjustable regulator is positioned on the right side of the regulator housing.

The Rock River Arms PPS carbine's hand-guard features an operator safety flange to help prevent support-hand movement or slippage towards the muzzle.

The folding, ambidextrous, non-reciprocating charging handles (shown above in the extended position) may be used singly or in unison to charge the PPS carbine.

The carbine is shown here from the reverse angle with the stock folded onto the side of the upper receiver. This feature reduces length, allowing the weapon to be more compact for storage in the trunk of a patrol car. The carbine arrives with a 16-inch chrome barrel (1:9 twist) and weighs 7.4 pounds.
