Each year at the annual conference of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the leading manufacturers of law enforcement products roll out some of their most innovative offerings. The 2010 IACP show was no exception. Here's an overview of some of the most interesting products we saw at this year's IACP . For more coverage of the show, pick up our December issue.

The Tactical Protector Vehicle (TPV) from Oshkosh Defense is an armored SWAT operations vehicle designed specifically for the narrow streets of American cities and suburbs. Built on a Ford F550 chassis with a 325-horsepower turbocharged V-8 engine, the TPV can carry four to eight fully equipped operators.

The Patrol Duty Uniform (PDU) from 5.11 Tactical is designed to look good at both the beginning and the end of a duty shift. Teflon-treated for stain resistance, the PDU incorporates officer-friendly features such as mic cord pass throughs, bi-swing shoulders, permanent creases, and hidden pockets.

Pryme Radio's PRYMEBLU Bluetooth adapters pair with Motorola radios, can be used with off-the-shelf Bluetooth headsets and remember paired connections when the radio is off. Users can link multiple devices, such as an officer's two-way radio and cell phone, to a single headset. If the radio device has priority, calls won't be missed.

The new TRU XTREME tactical uniform from TRU-SPEC is actually a component system comprising four separate garments: uniform pant, shirt, vest , and a combat shirt. All are made of Cordura 50/50 nylon cotton rip-stop. Features include lots of pockets, Mandarin collars to keep out debris, and angled cuffs for wrist and hand protection. Available in black, khaki, olive drab, navy, and MultiCam.

At IACP, WatchGuard Video will be showing its innovative new 4RE HD Wireless In-Car Video System. Touted as the first true high definition in-car video for law enforcement, the 4RE HD offers more than three times the image resolution of conventional systems. The 4RE HD records onto a secure USB flash drive. Video files can be uploaded wirelessly using an industrial grade 802.11n antenna.

Sure-Fire's 6PX Tactical light provides a single 200-lumen beam from a high-strength aerospace aluminum body that's been hard anodized to military specifications. A tail-cap switch enables press for momentary on and twist for constant on.

Getac has significantly increased the processing power of its popular B300 Rugged Notebook by installing Intel CoreT i7 2.0Ghz processors with Intel Turbo Boost technology. The upgrade also includes 4MB of Intel L3 Smart Cache. This combination increases system speed by up to 67 percent over the previous generation of B300. The B300 features an extremely bright 1400 NITs display and 22-hour battery life.

In-car video manufacturer Digital Ally has entered the speed enforcement market with its new LaserAlly LIDAR. The LaserAlly can acquire targets in one-third of a second at a range of more than a mile. At just 2.5 pounds, the LaserAlly is one of the lightest LIDAR systems on the market.

Laptop Lineup is a new investigative application from Thinkstream. The software picks out suitable matches from a database of more than 1,000 photos. It takes investigators just a few minutes to upload the suspect's photo and enter demographic and personal characteristics. Once the photo is uploaded and the information is input, Laptop Lineup automatically selects suitable matches for a six- or eight-person lineup.

ClearID v2.0 Workflow consists of more than 20 image clarification filters and a tabbed work-flow interface that guides you through the image clarification process and automated scripts. Integrated color preview windows and slider bars help you find the optimal settings for clarifying your image evidence.

Cross Match Technologies' Mobile Rapid ID provides law enforcement agencies with immediate verification of subjects' identities in the field. Wireless technology liberates officers to capture forensic-quality biometric data for comparison against stored watch lists or databases.

The new Motorola APX 6000 P25 portable radio is reportedly the smallest P25 Phase 2 TDMA capable radio on the market. Despite its compact form factor, the APX 6000 features a high-contrast color display. The system offers mission critical wireless and GPS tracking. Dual mic noise suppression on the APX 6000, makes it suitable for operations in high noise environments.

ATK's Force on Force GEN2 marker rounds bring safety and realism to today's LE scenario-based training. The rounds are designed to be shot at human targets with a predictable, tolerable pain penalty. The rounds also boast superior visual markings, primer-driven consistency, recyclable cases and felt recoil similar to duty rounds, according to ATK.

The Spillman Touch application from Spillman Technologies lets officers access records, search databases, view dispatch information, and receive assignments using mobile devices. Spillman Touch can be fully integrated with your agency's Spillman database. Users can see dispatched calls as they are received and update their status.
