Los Angeles artist Lin Evola will oversee the creation of a 3-foot "peace angel" statue that will be created out of the crushed pieces of some 3,469 pounds of guns. Many of the guns were used in crimes.

Some 3,469 pounds of weapons mostly used in crimes were crushed at a San Pedro, Calif., recycling center. Pieces of the weapons will be incorporated into a 3-foot-tall "peace angel" at the Boyle Heights Technology Center.
