A Bridgewater, New Jersey, Police officer is being credited with pulling a man from a burning car early Wednesday morning after a crash on Route 22 early Wednesday morning.
Around 2:11 a.m., a Hyundai Elantra struck the back of a Freightliner truck towing a tanker trailer, MyCentralJersey.com reports.
After the impact, the vehicles fused and were engulfed in flames, traveling another 685 feet.
The passenger of the Hyundai, 26-year-old Moosade Harris, of Plainfield, and the driver of the truck Zachary Roslin were able to escape their vehicles on their own but the driver of the Hyundai, 44-year-old Peter Della-Ventura, of North Plainfield, was unconscious and trapped inside the burning vehicle.
Arriving shortly after the crash, Bridgewater Police Officer Noah Allatt was able to rescue Della-Ventura from the burning vehicle, Bridgewater Police Traffic Safety Bureau Officer Joseph Greco said.
