Missouri Officer Critically Injured in Motorcycle Wreck

The motorcycle officer was driving northbound, non-emergency, without lights or sirens, when an SUV turned in front of him.

A Kansas City, Missouri, Police officer was critically injured when his motorcycle crashed into an SUV Wednesday morning.

Sgt. Jonathan Rivers with the KCPD Accident Investigation Unit told KMBC the officer was driving northbound, non-emergency, without lights or sirens, when an SUV turned in front of him.

The officer was unable to stop, and struck the front of the SUV before being thrown from the motorcycle.

 Police said a nearby business owner ran to the scene and managed to push an emergency button on the officer's radio, alerting dispatch to the situation, KSNB reports.    

He was initially rushed to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

As of noon, the officer's condition was listed as critical, but stable.
