Cleveland Serial Killer May Be Connected To Cases In Other States
The FBI and two Southern California departments are investigating whether accused Cleveland serial killer Anthony Sowell may be connected with several cases, when he was stationed at Camp Pendleton in the mid-1980s, the North County Times reports.
The FBI and two Southern California departments are investigating whether accused Cleveland serial killer Anthony Sowell may be connected with several cases, when he was stationed at Camp Pendleton in the mid-1980s, the North County Times reports.
Sowell, 50, is accused of killing 11 women and hiding their bodies in the walls of his house.
Coronado police are investigating a woman's claim that she was raped by Sowell, and Oceanside police are reviewing files from that era.
Sowell served in the Marines from 1978 to 1985 in Southern California, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Japan. The FBI is reviewing unsolved cases in those areas.
UPDATE: Coronado Police Chief Lou Scanlon tells POLICE Magazine that Sowell was stationed on the East Coast at the time the woman says she was attacked.
