Streamlight Inc. has announced its PolyStinger LED HAZ-LO, a rechargeable Class 1, Division 1 flashlight in the Stinger series that's designed for professionals who face potentially hazardous conditions on the job.

The PolyStinger LED HAZ-LO uses patented C4 LED technology to provide extreme brightness while delivering a tight beam with optimum peripheral illumination. The light delivers 130 lumens output and 15,000 candela peak beam intensity for four hours on the high setting, and 50 lumens and 5,700 candela for 12 hours on the low setting.

The PolyStinger LED HAZ-LO can also be operated on a moonlight mode, allowing for 20 days of continuous runtime at 120 candela and 1.3 lumens.

The PolyStinger LED HAZ-LO has been approved by USTC as an intrinsically safe Class 1, Division 1 flashlight for use in hazardous locations, atmospheres and environments, including petro-chemical, utility and other heavy industrial applications.

"The PolyStinger LED HAZ-LO is ideal for those who work in potentially hazardous environments," according to Ray Sharrah, Streamlight's president. "Whether it's used when working around electrical equipment, in environments where flammable gases may be present, or at the scene of a fire, professionals in a variety of fields will appreciate the safety of this light, along with its high performance and outstanding features."

The PolyStinger LED HAZ-LO is constructed with super-tough, chemical and corrosion resistant nylon polymer and includes a camshaft style grip. Featuring a C4 LED that is impervious to shock with a 50,000 hour lifetime, the light is equipped with a multi-function, head-mounted electronic pushbutton switch designed for extremely long life.

The new light measures 10.2 inches in length, and weighs 13.5 ounces with its battery, a 4-cell, 4.8 volt nickel-cadmium sub-C battery, which is rechargeable up to 1,000 times. The new light is also compatible with existing Streamlight Stinger chargers.

It's available in black or yellow, arrives with AC/DC chargers, and retails for $219.
