California Officer Shot During Pat-Down Search

An officer was conducting a pat-down search of a male in a group of two males and two females. The man got nervous, went to the ground, then got up, pulled out a gun and shot twice at the officer. Neither bullet hit the officer, although one struck his car. The officer did not return fire.

A Ceres (Calif.) Police officer was shot by one of four suspects he was patting down in the parking lot of a convenience store earlier this morning, reports the Modesto Bee.

The shooting occurred just before 4 a.m. this morning in the parking lot of an mini-market.
