A police use-of-force expert has questioned the amount of force used by an officer at a traffic stop in Springfield, Ga., saying he sees a "clear indication of excessive force."
In cruiser-cam video released to television station WSAV, Effingham County Sheriff's Investigator Jeremy Scott is seen running around to the driver's side of the subject's vehicle and punching Bernard Wallace in the face, knocking him backward.
Greg Connor, a 40-year police veteran who runs the Use of Force law enforcement training and consultancy firm, said Wallace had not taken a defensive stance. Connor said the officer's level of force was "one of the most gross demonstrations of excessive force" he's seen.
