Johnson County (Texas) Sheriff's Deputy Clifton Taylor was killed Saturday afternoon, when a gunman opened fire from inside a shed, reports the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

After Dep. Taylor, 31, was shot, two other deputies returned fire, killing Wesley Davis, 47, of Oklahoma.

The three deputies had been dispatched at about 4 p.m. to respond to a domestic disturbance. After arriving at the residence near the town of Venus, a family member warned Dep. Taylor that "he needed to be careful," because Davis had fled to the shed with a handgun, which was later identified as a .380-caliber. The deputies carried .357 Magnum revolvers.

Davis reportedly threatened his wife, sister, and another person before authorities arrived.
