Boston Bombers Planned NYC Attack, Says Top Cop

The two Boston Marathon bombing suspects planned to use their remaining explosives to carry out a second attack in New York City's Times Square, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said.

The two Boston Marathon bombing suspects planned to use their remaining explosives to carry out a second attack in New York City's Times Square, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly told the Associated Press.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, and brother Tamerlan, 26, had decided Thursday to drive to New York for the attack, Dzhokhar told authorities during initial questioning.

The plan fell apart when police stopped them after they had carjacked a Mercedes-Benz SUV. A fierce gunfight followed, leading to Tamerlan's death and Dzhokhar's capture while hiding in a boat in Watertown, Mass.

Investigators apparently have obtained a photo of Dzhokhar in Times Square in November. Kelly said the brothers had five pipe bombs and a "pressure-cooker bomb" with them in the SUV, reports WPTV.
