VIDEO: Quick-Thinking South Carolina Officer Stops Runaway Truck
A runaway truck in Chesnee, S.C., nearly backed over its owner, if not for the quick thinking of a mailman and a police officer who literally leapt into action.
Mail carrier Rusty Tucker pulled the truck's injured owner to safety. The 84-year-old man told Tucker the truck unexpectedly cranked while he was under the hood and it wasn't in park. He tried to scramble out of the way but the driver side door flung him to the ground.
Chesnee Police Officer Tim Walker arrived on the scene just after Tucker had pulled the owner out of the truck's path. Walker made a jump for the door, but the truck flung him off.
With the truck still spinning around in circles, Walker took a flying leap into the truck bed and broke out the back window in order to get inside. "I hit the brake...and put it in park," Walker told WSPA TV.
