A Bibb County, Ga., sheriff’s deputy assigned to the jail was fired Monday after her arrest on a charge of party to the crime of dogfighting, reports the Macon Telegraph.
The deputy was arrested following an internal investigation after a July 11 incident at her home in which injured dogs were found by sheriff’s patrol deputies helping animal control officers, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release. An internal investigation found evidence of dogfighting at the residence.
Two others were previously arrested in the case and charged with dogfighting.
Smith was fired for policy violations and is free on $5,700 bond.
